Real World Evidence
The academic team at Sapphire Medical Clinics understand that the future of medical cannabis treatment is centred on personalised medicine and data-driven clinical decision pathways.
We work with academic and industrial partners to ensure that the multiple sources of real world evidence that we collect are used to bridge medical knowledge gaps and provide a comprehensive insight into medical cannabis therapeutics.
National Registry
As recommended by NHS England we have set up the UK Medical Cannabis Registry, available free to enrol any patient who provides consent nationally.
The registry has been seamlessly integrated into the patient pathway and members of the Sapphire Access Scheme is integrated into their patient portal, allowing users to enter their data securely online. The registry ensures that cannabis-based medicinal product therapies are developed in a responsible way, by capturing essential data including efficacy metrics, adverse events and patient-reported outcome measures using validated methodologies.

Sapphire Access Scheme
Patients at Sapphire Medical Clinics who enrol on the Sapphire Access Scheme can contribute directly to the UK Medical Cannabis Registry. Through this scheme UK medical cannabis patients can:
- Gain greater insight into how their medical cannabis treatment is affecting them
- Receive significantly reduced appointment costs
- Contribute to the ground-breaking initiative that will rapidly expand the evidence base for medical cannabis
Clinical Trials
At Sapphire Medical we understand the importance of generating high level evidence and allowing patients access to clinical trials.
As we are led by several prominent academic clinicians based at institutions including Imperial College and Kings College, we are actively involved in this process.
We have therefore set up a clinical trials hub through which patients can access studies nationally and through which academia, industry, regulators, and funding bodies can deliver collaborative research projects aimed to generate the data necessary to inform public policy recommendations and support drug licensing.
The Sapphire Clinical Trials hub is ideally suited as a vehicle to recruit patients for clinical trials ranging from early phase 1 to multi-national randomised controlled trials. We welcome partnerships with academia and industry to support generation of robust datasets, and we have the tools and infrastructure in place to deliver regulatory grade evidence using our real world data acquisition platform.
